Workshop: RGIK Rock Glacier Velocity (RGV) Working Group Kick-Off!

In November 2024, a workshop was held in Fribourg, Switzerland and was attended by 19 participants (16 on-site) who carried out an intercomparison exercise.

Partners from the Permafrost CCI and the SwissUniversities Orodapt projects kicked off the RGIK RGV Working Group that aims to:

  • Simultaneously generate RGV on similar landforms
  • Inter-compare results using various methods
  • Identify concerte issues occurring during the production


The workshop was sponsored by the Permafrost CCI Project, the International Permafrost Association (IPA), and the Department of Geosciences at the University of Fribourg (UniFR).
